Introducing The Appventurers: inspired by the Mr. Men

I’m going to promote two kids’ books series in this post, if you don’t mind. One written by me and available for free, the other not. And I’m starting with the other - the Mr. Men / Little Miss series.
If your child has yet to discover these classics, I fully recommend them. Forget my books for a minute. Try some of these out first. The characterisation is legendary.
Written back in the 1970s and 1980s, I still fondly remember these stories, particularly Mr. Bump, Mr. Tickle, Mr. Greedy et al, all their stories told in little square books with glossy covers and a line-up of the characters on the back. The illustrations were hand drawn with thick black pen lines and coloured-in with felt tip. Simplistic. But memorable.
The series inspired me to create a new kids’ book series of my own – The Appventurers - each character being based on a type of app, and each bursting out of a phone screen, leaving the digital world behind to experience more of the real world. Exactly what I want my kids to do.
I’ve illustrated the books myself, using MS Word. I’m a better writer than I am an illustrator for sure. But needs must. I can’t afford to hire a pro to illustrate these stories yet, and I point blank refuse to use AI for anything. When I can afford to pay a proper human illustrator, I will.
In the meantime, there are six digital and print books in The Appventurers series to choose from.
